Today's task was to come up with a manicure inspired by a tutorial. I apologize in advance, but I don't have a specific blogger or link to refer to - I've really gleaned information from multiple sources, and I'm afraid that I would end up leaving people out if I had to list... I have the memory of a forgetful goldfish.
I decided that the whole point of using a tutorial was to learn new things. Using that logic, I decided to create a "fish-egg" manicure. After slapping on two coats of OPI - DS Classic (my ALL TIME favorite neutral) I pulled out some top coat, some green and teal beads, and a detailing brush. I couldn't bear to cover up my base color completely, so I used the brush to apply top coat in a wavy diagonal across the nail. Next, I poured on the beads (one color at a time - I'm not that skilled) and sealed the whole thing with a healthy coat of Seche Vite.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope that you'll follow my lead, I'm off to check out the other 31 Day Challengers.

I like the color combo, it's always good to have a pop of color with a nude - well it my opinion at least!! I've never done fish egg nails, I refuse to pay a lot for micro beads so I always look out for them at the dollar store, but haven't seen any yet. One day though!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole :) I know what you mean about the cost of the micro beads. I was lucky and was able to share a collection with my mom. Some sets come with a large variety of colors - if you could find someone willing to go half-in, you could either split the colors or buy empty vials on the cheap to siphon half the beans into. Unless you would start doing the fish-egg manicures constantly, you don't need a lot. If you do find them at the dollar store, give a holler!
DeleteI like the idea a lot!! And how you did the wave...wow!!!
ReplyDeleteDS Classic is so gorgeous I understand why you didn't want to cover it! I also can't wait to try the caviar mani!! My beads should arrive for Christmas :)
Oh man, what a way to celebrate the holidays! I can't wait to see the manicures you come up with for them! :)The wave was fun, but I spent a lot of time with an orange stick fiddling with the micro beads until they were exactly where I wanted them. Oi!
DeleteVery cool, Liz!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :-D Have you pulled out your micro beads lately? Would love to see!
DeleteLove it!!!!!! Great idea with the wavy bead pattern. DS Classic is way too gorgeous to cover entirely!
